Restaurants with an Ocean View - Part 2

Beach Walk Cafe at Henderson Park InnIn our first installment of this blog series, we gave you 5 of our favorite local Destin restaurants that also offer breathtaking views. Today we're bringing you 5 more!

Beach Walk Café
For a more upscale and unique beach side experience, try the Beach Walk Café at Henderson Park Inn. Located at the far east end of Henderson State Park, an evening here features unparalleled views of the ocean as well as unspoiled beach dunes and breathtaking sunsets. This fine dining restaurant has been the recipient of dozens of awards over the years, most recently being named one of the nation’s top 100 romantic venues by OpenTable. Oh, and no kids allowed.

Whale’s Tail
Just a brisk walk down the beach from Edgewater you’ll stumble upon a local favorite, The Whale’s Tail Beach Bar and Grill. This newly renovated local staple has been a part of the Destin beach for over 30 years! On the lower floor you’ll find a walk-up beach bar thats famous for their frozen tropical drinks. Upstairs they’re serving up fresh seafood and land fare. But our favorite part is the Whale’s Tail breakfast! They open at 7am and offer everything from shrimp omelets to biscuits and gravy. You truly haven’t experienced Destin without a breakfast overlooking the majestic emerald waters of the Gulf Coast at the Whale’s Tail.

AJ’s’ Seafood and Oyster Bar
Literally the hub of the harbor, AJ’s is not only home to fresh oysters and seafood, but also the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo! Watch the charter boats roll into their docks and unload their catch as you sip on an iced tea and lunch on a shrimp po boy. They’ll even cook your catch for you, right off the boat! AJ’s is also famous for their nightlife. Consistently named one of the top 100 nightclubs in America, you can dance the night away to the music of local musicians at Club Bimini in AJ’s.

HarryT’s
Located in the Harbor Walk Village overlooking Destin’s East Pass, you can have a seat and watch the boats stroll in and out of the harbor. HarryT’s features live music throughout the day, but the party really gets kicking at night on their open air, upper deck. This restaurant serves up brunch featuring items such as omelets, tacos and bottomless mimosas. For lunch and dinner, you’ll find “bountiful baskets” of seafood, steamed platters, sandwiches, burgers and pastas. After dining, take a stroll along Destin’s newly renovated Harbor Boardwalk.

McGuire’s Irish Pub
If you are familiar with McGuire’s then you may wonder why its a part of this list. We may have made a bit of a stretch here but if you dine upstairs, you are awarded a magnificent view of the Destin (Marler) Bridge and Crab Island! But we’ll admit that the main attraction is downstairs. Hundreds of thousands of dollar bills line the walls and the ceilings in this dimly lit Irish pub. Here they age their own meats, smoke their own prime rib, grind their own steak into burgers and brew their own beer. McGuire’s has been featured on the Food Network for not only their top quality burgers and steaks, but also their “Terrible Garbage Burger” which they self-describe as “absolutely disgusting”.
