Cinco De Mayo Fest and the Sandestin Bicycle Tour

Cinco De Mayo Fest will be held May 4th and 5th at the HarborWalk Village. There will be Latin entertainment, dancing, food and drinks by Crab Island Cantina. That evening there will be a Latin Pub Crawl throughout the HarborWalk. Wristbands for this can be purchased for $10 with proceeds going to the Emerald Coast Autism Society. On Sunday the 5th, festivities will begin at noon with Roller Derby teams across the area to kick start the day. There will also be a nacho eating contest and more activities for the whole family.

On Tuesday nights during May, the HarborWalk Village brings in some New Orleans flair with Pardi Gras from 6pm-10pm complete with floats, beads, live performances by the Village Brass Band, jugglers, and more entertainment. This parade is a free event and open to the public. For those interested in overnight accommodations, Destin vacation rentals are available in the area.

On May 17th-19th, the Sandestin Beach Bicycle Tour will bring hundreds of cyclists to the area to take part in a 30 or 60 mile scenic bike ride. This Bike tour benefits the Alaqua Animal Refuge, an independent non-profit organization located on Florida’s Emerald Coast. Also on May 18th and 19th is the Sixth Annual Okaloosa Arts Alliance Family Fun Arts festival with live entertainment, arts and crafts, and plenty of free kid's activities. This event is from 11am-6pm each day at the HarborWalk Village.

For Memorial Day, Silver Sands Premium Outlet Mall, with over 100 outlet stores, has extra savings for the holiday weekend. For festivities, the Village of Baytowne Wharf will have live bands all weekend along with children's activities to include the whole family. Bands will perform each night at the Events Plaza stage from 7pm-9pm. From 10am-9pm on each day there will be a Roaring River Water Slide to cool off on. At 9:15pm on Sunday night, the celebration will close with a patriotic fireworks show above the lagoon. Then on Monday, there will be a special Memorial Day program presented by Sandestin veteran’s right before sunset. The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra will perform at this event.
